Face Buddy ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application ("App"). Please read this policy carefully.

Face Data Disclosure

Face Buddy captures and processes facial photos ("face data") to provide its core features. This section describes our face data practices as required by Apple's App Review Guidelines.

Why We Collect and Store Face Data

• AI facial assessment: Your photos are analyzed to score facial symmetry, jawline definition, posture, and other features so the App can recommend personalized myofunctional exercises.
• Transformation previews: Your photos are used to generate AI transformation previews that visualize potential results from the program.
• Progress tracking: Baseline and weekly photos are retained so you can compare your progress over time.

Face data is never used for advertising, biometric identification, authentication, training AI models, profiling, or sold to anyone.

How Long We Store Face Data and Why

• On our servers: Face data is retained only while your account is active so you can view your baseline, weekly progress photos, and generated transformations across devices. If you do not open the App for 12 months, your account and all face data are automatically deleted. You may also delete your account and all face data at any time from the Profile screen; deletion is immediate and permanent.
• During AI processing (OpenAI and Google): Face data sent to our AI providers is processed transiently solely to return a result and is not retained by them beyond the short operational windows described below. We chose these providers specifically because they offer zero-retention API tiers for training and short, bounded retention for abuse monitoring only.

We do not store face data indefinitely. The retention periods above are the shortest practical durations that still allow the App's progress-tracking feature to function.

Third Parties That Receive Face Data

We share face data only with the following processors, and only to the extent necessary to provide the features described above:

• OpenAI, L.L.C.
  Why we share: To generate AI transformation preview images via the gpt-image-1.5 API.
  Does OpenAI store face data? OpenAI receives face data through their API. Under OpenAI's API data usage policies, API inputs and outputs are not used to train their models. OpenAI may retain API data for up to 30 days solely for abuse and misuse monitoring, after which it is deleted. OpenAI does not use face data for any other purpose. • Google LLC (Gemini API)
  Why we share: To perform structured facial assessment (symmetry, jawline, posture scoring) via the gemini-2.5-flash paid-tier API.
  Does Google store face data? Google receives face data through the Gemini API. Under Google's paid-tier Gemini API terms, API inputs and outputs are not used to train Google's models, are not reviewed by humans, and are logged only for a short period for abuse monitoring and service reliability before deletion. • Cloud infrastructure providers
  Why we share: To host and back up your face data securely with encryption in transit and at rest.
  Do they store face data? Yes, strictly as a processor on our behalf. They do not access, analyze, share, or retain your face data for any purpose other than providing storage and computing services. Their retention mirrors our retention: data is deleted when you delete your account or your account becomes inactive for 12 months.

We do not share face data with advertisers, data brokers, analytics providers, or any third party outside the processors listed above.

1. Information We Collect

1.1 Information You Provide

• Profile Information: Display name, age range, and biological sex (used to personalize your experience and improve the accuracy of AI-generated transformation previews).
• Assessment Data: Health and lifestyle information you provide during onboarding, including breathing habits, jaw alignment, and facial health goals.
• Facial Photos: Photos captured through the App for progress tracking and AI analysis. These are taken from multiple angles (front, profile, smile).
• Progress Notes: Any notes you add to your weekly progress entries.

1.2 Automatically Collected Information

• Usage Data: We collect anonymized analytics data about how you interact with the App, including exercise completions, streak milestones, and feature usage, to improve our service.
• Device Information: Device type and operating system version, used for compatibility and troubleshooting.
• Subscription Status: Transaction identifiers related to in-app purchases, managed through Apple's App Store.

1.3 Information We Do Not Collect

• Location data
• Contacts or address book
• Calendar data
• Browsing history
• Financial or payment card information (payments are processed entirely by Apple)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Provide and maintain the App's core features, including AI-powered facial analysis and exercise recommendations. This involves sending your facial photos and onboarding answers to the third-party AI providers described in Section 3, but only after you give explicit consent during onboarding.
• Generate transformation preview images based on your photos and profile using OpenAI's image generation API.
• Score and analyze your baseline photos for symmetry, jawline definition, and posture using Google's Gemini API.
• Track your progress over time by comparing weekly photos to your baseline.
• Personalize your exercise routine based on your assessment and goals.
• Send you notifications and reminders (with your permission).
• Improve and optimize the App based on anonymized usage analytics.

3. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. Before any data is sent to a third-party AI service, Face Buddy presents an in-app disclosure screen and requires you to give explicit consent. We share data with the following third parties solely to provide you with the App's features:

3.1 Third-Party AI Providers

Face Buddy uses the following third-party AI services to power facial analysis and transformation generation. The data listed below is transmitted to these providers only after you have given consent during onboarding:

• OpenAI, L.L.C. — We send your facial photos and your onboarding answers (age, biological sex, ethnicity, goals, and symptoms) to OpenAI's image generation API (gpt-image-1.5) and language API. OpenAI uses this data solely to return the AI-generated transformation images and text analyses to Face Buddy. Per OpenAI's API data usage policies, data submitted through the API is not used to train OpenAI's models. OpenAI's privacy policy is available at https://openai.com/policies/privacy-policy.
• Google LLC (Gemini API) — We send your facial photos and onboarding answers to Google's Gemini API (gemini-2.5-flash) to perform facial assessment (scoring facial symmetry, jawline definition, and posture) and return structured results. Per Google's Gemini API paid-tier terms, data submitted through the API is not used to train Google's models. Google's privacy policy is available at https://policies.google.com/privacy.

We have confirmed that both providers offer data protection standards equivalent to those described in this Privacy Policy. Neither provider retains your photos or assessment data for training, advertising, or any purpose other than returning results to Face Buddy.

3.2 Other Service Providers

• Analytics Providers: We use anonymized analytics services to understand usage patterns and improve the App. No facial photos or personally identifying information are shared with analytics providers.
• Infrastructure Providers: Cloud hosting and database services that store your data securely under industry-standard encryption.

We may also disclose your information if required by law, regulation, or legal process.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on secure servers with encryption in transit and at rest. We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your information from unauthorized access, alteration, or destruction.

Your facial photos are stored securely and are only accessible to you through the App. We retain your face data only while your account is active; if your account is inactive for 12 months, it and all associated face data are automatically deleted. You can also delete your account and all face data immediately at any time from the Profile screen. 5. Your Rights and Choices

• Access and Deletion: You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile section in the App. This action is permanent and cannot be undone.
• Notifications: You can manage notification preferences within the App or through your device settings.
• Camera Access: You can revoke camera permissions at any time through your device settings. The App requires camera access to capture progress photos.

6. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete it promptly.

7. Third-Party Links

The App may contain links to third-party websites or services. We are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third parties. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
